DirectEd Lions

 

The DirectEd Lions Collection is a set of 2130 pieces of humanoid lions from a fantasy world, created by the DirectEd Development Foundation as a way to support their fundraising efforts. DirectEd is a charitable organization based in the UK that offers evidence-based, scalable, and cost-effective coding programs, as well as access stipends to high-potential students between high school and university who lack resources in Africa.

The DirectEd Lions Collection has four different tiers: Warrior, Hero, Royal, and God. Each tier represents varying levels of contributions and perks. As donations grow larger, the recognition and perks also increase.

DirectEd's goal is to support high-potential, under-resourced students in Africa who do not have access to resources that can help them take advantage of the opportunity presented by the shortage of IT professionals in the West. The program is free for students who meet the intake threshold at partner institutions, and Access Stipends are also available to ensure that all students, regardless of their family background, can participate. These Access Stipends are facilitated through milestone-based stipends that are implemented with smart contracts.

DirectEd uses Decentralized Identifiers as their identity layer, which enables students to share ZK proofs while providing only the minimum information needed. This approach balances meaningful transparency with the right to privacy.
