Omen is a 10,000-piece NFT collection built on the Cardano blockchain, serving as the unifying force behind the Neomonium DAO. It stands out for introducing a first-of-its-kind mechanism on Cardano: the OMEN Paper Hands Taxation-Rewards System (PHTR)—a model designed to incentivize long-term holding and community engagement through royalty redistribution.
Omen’s Launch and the PHTR System
Minted on December 24, 2023, via the Ada Anvil platform, Omen marked a significant milestone in Cardano's NFT space. The project launched with a novel rewards structure in which NFT holders who chose to stake their Omen assets received weekly ADA payouts. As of 2024, the project allocates 100% of secondary market royalties directly back to these staking participants.
The mint itself attracted wide attention—not only within the Cardano community but also from observers on other blockchains like Ethereum and Solana. Although only 20% of the collection was minted initially, the royalty structure began at an 80% return to stakers, gradually adjusting through predefined PHTR tiers before stabilizing at the current 13%.
An innovative feature of the minting process allowed holders of legacy Neomoniums NFTs to burn their assets in exchange for new Omen NFTs. This burn-to-mint mechanism offered exclusive trait enhancements for those willing to convert, reinforcing both scarcity and long-term value within the ecosystem.
The launch culminated in a notable milestone: the first PHTR distribution paid out 86,485 ADA to stakers, reflecting both strong community interest and successful execution of the rewards model.
