Pavia is a decentralized gaming metaverse-project that operates on the Cardano blockchain, similar to Ethereum's Decentraland and Sandbox games. The project is named after the Italian city of Pavia, the birthplace of Gerolamo Cardano, the namesake of the Cardano blockchain platform. Pavia Corp was established on the 520th anniversary of Cardano's birth (24 September 2021). The Pavia metaverse currently has 7,000 landowners, with plans to complete a map of 100,000 land parcels after the final land sale in 2022. These land parcels are digital pieces of land sold as NFTs, with a unique CNFT (Cardano FT) based on coordinates within Pavia.io. Landowners can deploy 3D scenes called Pavia Compatible Assets (PCAs) on their land parcels. The first two land sales took place on 12 October 2021 and 24 November 2021, with a total of 60,000 NFT LAND parcels sold. As of December 2021, there were over 8,000 wallet holders for Pavia.io Land NFTs. Pavia is the third-largest Cardano NFT project, with a lifetime trading sales volume of 9.6 million.
