In simpler terms, Milkomeda is a protocol that connects different blockchains. Some of which include Cardano, Algorand, and Solana. The Milkomeda sidechain has earned itself the reputation as the premiere EVM-based sidechain in the Cardano ecosystem. Milkomeda’s sidechains allow developers to write smart contracts in languages familiar to them. Like Solidity, a language used to code on Ethereum. This is important as it decreases the barrier to entry for developers, while simultaneously increasing Cardano's developer pool.

Think of sidechains, as bridges between blockchains. The Milkomeda C1 (Cardano EVM Sidechain) provides both developers & users with a simplified on-boarding experience, while improving the value of ADA as it becomes the coordinating base asset on multiple chains. Milkomeda C1, is directly connected to Cardano. Users holding tokens on the connected chain can move assets to Cardano, and vice versa, simply by wrapping them on the sidechain. Once wrapped, these tokens become native assets on the Cardano mainnet and function the same as native assets on Cardano. Milkomeda’s sidechain enables interoperability & the transfer of projects from one chain to another, these sidechains are built on top of Cardano using wrapped $ADA, MilkADA, as their native currency. Three examples of popular Cardano wallets that are compatible with Milkomeda include - Flint, Nami, Eterni. Each of these offer support for wrapping tokens to Milkomeda C1! As far as governance, sidechains will be governed by their users on Cardano through the Milkomeda DAO, and to participate, users must use the Cardano blockchain. Users will be incentivized to vote through rewards. 

As adoption increases, many believe the Metaverse will completely take over in the coming years.
